The “DatkAiym” project was launched in Kyrgyzstan
In Kyrgyzstan, the project “DatkAyim” was launched.
The project is implemented by the Public Association “Agency of Social Technologies” (Kyrgyzstan). (Kyrgyzstan) and the Project is implemented by the Public Association “Agency of Social Technologies” and the Center for Creative Development “Danilo Dolci” (Italy) with the financial support of the European Union in the period 2019-2022. The project aims to support state bodies, civil society organizations, mass media to promote gender equality and prevention of gender discrimination, dissemination of positive gender narratives at all levels of society.
General objective of the project: Supporting the transformation of deeply rooted patriarchal behavioral attitudes in society by eliminating the advocacy of gender and social discrimination in education, mass media and application of effective and productive response to gender discrimination in accordance with SDG 5.
The main directions of activities on the specific objectives of the project:
To promote institutionalization of mandatory anti-discrimination and gender expertise of standards and educational materials, as well as increase the gender competence of educators in the KR to ensure implementation of the goals of the National Action Plan on Gender Equality for 2018-2020 and the Education Development Strategy until 2020.
The project will support the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic and other educational organizations in the implementation of anti-discrimination and gender expertise of standards and training materials, improving the gender competence of educators, in an information campaign for girls aimed at changing gender stereotypes when choosing a profession. Civil society organizations, including religious organizations and clergy in all regions of the country will be involved in order to combat the dropping out of girls from school due to religious beliefs and patriarchal cultural norms of their parents and early marriages.
Facilitate the development and implementation of gender-sensitive journalism standards in Kyrgyzstan to support the implementation of Target 31.3 of the National Action Plan for Gender Equality 2018-2020.
The project will work with the media to develop and implement standards for gender-sensitive journalism, in accordance with UNESCO’s recommendations on gender sensitivity for the media. Methodological support will be provided to universities on the application of these standards in the training of specialists in journalism. Promotion of better cooperation between media and gender NGOs and experts.
Improvement of coordinated interagency interaction on prevention and response to gender discrimination and violence on national and local levels through increasing the capacity of ministries, agencies, local self-government bodies responsible for gender issues and organization of committees on protection and protection from family and gender violence on local community level.
Activities and trainings will be carried out for civil servants, responsible for gender issues of ministries and departments, LSG to improve coordination and inter-agency cooperation on the implementation of gender policy, prevention of gender discrimination and response to it at the national and local levels. Methodological and informational assistance in creating and supporting the activities of committees on protection and protection against family and gender violence at the local community level. Assistance in strengthening the capacity of civil society organizations for effective interaction with state bodies and LSGs in order to promote the gender agenda.
